Problems attaching the sensor
The software will perform best if the sensor is clamped firmly to a standard drum rim and the light shines directly behind the magnet. The sensor should hover paralell to your drum head. You can use your positioner to align the sensor, as shown in the gif at the bottom of Attaching the sensor.
Good fit: sensor is parallel
Bad fit: sensor is too high (flange rims)
Standard flange rim: Sometimes if the drum is tuned too tight, there isn't enough room for the sensor to fit under the rim, so it angles up.
Solution: Try attaching the sensor on different spots––sometimes one side of the drum fits better than the other. Otherwise, try loosening the lugs next to the sensor.
Bad fit: sensor is too low (die-cast rims)
Die-cast rim: Some die-cast rims have a sloped wall. If the drum is tuned too loose, it will cause the sensor to angle down.
Solution: Try tightening your drum head to get the sensor to attach higher up on the rim.
Bad fit: sensor is too low (s-hoop rims)
S-hoop rims: If you have an S-hoop and the head is too tight, there might not be enough room to attach the sensor, which will case it to angle down.
Solution: Try attaching the sensor on different spots––sometimes one side of the drum fits better than the other. Otherwise, try loosening the lugs next to the sensor.
Bad fit: sensor too low (thick rim)
Some drums have really thick rims or elements that stick out from the drum. The distance from the inside of the hoop where the sensor sits, to the outside of the drum needs to be less than 14mm.
Solution: Unfortunately, the sensor will not fit on these kinds of drums.
